Overview

Burgundy is a key French wine region with a long history and distinct vineyard classifications. This private full-day bus tour of about 7.5 hours focuses on the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits areas. It begins with a morning meeting at accommodations in the Chagny, Beaune, or Dijon area around 9:30 am. The tour includes stops in vineyards where guides explain Burgundy wine concepts such as Climates, terroir, appellations, and classifications. Visitors tour one wine estate in the morning and taste six wines there, including Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. A lunch break is scheduled at a local traditional restaurant, but lunch itself is not included. In the afternoon, the group walks through vineyards while learning about vine cultivation cycles and seasonal work. Then the tour visits a second wine estate where winemaking techniques are described in the cellar, followed by a tasting of six more Burgundy wines, also including Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. The day ends with a return to the hotel around 5:00 pm. Throughout the day, participants encounter Burgundy specialists or winemakers and learn the history of Burgundy wine from Roman times to today. The tour also includes cultural and photo stops at notable sites such as Clos Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, Hill of Corton Grand Cru, Clos de la Romanée Conti Grand Cru, Château de Clos de Vougeot from the 12th century, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, and the Clos de Bèze Grand Cru vineyard dating to the 7th century. Private transportation and mineral water are provided during the excursion.
