This private cooking workshop in Koper lasts about four hours and focuses on Mediterranean seafood dishes. The session is interactive and includes detailed instruction on selecting, preparing, and filleting seabass. Participants learn how to make fish soup, prepare mussels when they are in season, cook seafood pasta, and create raw fish dishes according to Irena Fonda’s recipe for seabass. All ingredients, cooking tools, and recipes are provided, and lunch is included. Bottled water is supplied, but alcoholic drinks and snacks are not part of the workshop. The experience centers on practical techniques that can be easily repeated at home. The workshop may be cancelled if the weather is poor.
Irena's Fish Cooking Class
The class takes place at Fonda Fish Garden where participants learn to prepare fish and seafood, including identifying fresh fish, cleaning, filleting, and cooking mussels when in season. They also prepare seafood pasta and safely handle raw fish dishes, with the menu varying by availability and season. It starts with a glass of local wine or herb-infused water while introducing fish-related topics such as freezing and storage. The workshop involves cooking in a small group, concluding with a seafood meal under pine trees and a seasonal dessert. The class is led by Irena, a molecular biologist and sustainable seafood advocate.
