Overview

The Puerto Rico Sunset Magic Bio Bay Kayaking Tour from Fajardo lasts about two hours and takes place in tandem kayaks designed for two people. The tour starts at Kayak Village in Fajardo, where participants receive a kayak lesson and safety orientation before launching. A certified Marine Biologist leads the group, providing detailed information about the local ecosystems and the bioluminescent lagoon known as Laguna Grande, the only bioluminescent bay in the world. Guests paddle through a mangrove forest, observing wildlife along the way, before reaching Laguna Grande to see the natural bioluminescence. The tour runs at sunset and early evening to provide the best conditions for viewing the glowing water. All safety equipment is included, such as life jackets with whistles, paddles, backrests, and bug repellent. Snacks and water are also provided. Each guest must be able to paddle and maneuver their kayak independently, including getting in and out on their own. There is a strict weight limit of 240 pounds per person, and guests are weighed onsite to ensure compliance. The tour is not canceled due to weather, and a tarp may be used if needed to block light pollution. Participants should expect to get wet and are advised to bring a change of clothes and a towel. Guests must arrive 30 minutes before the tour starts. Transportation to the launch site is not included. Children under six years old and pregnant women are not allowed to participate. The tour may encounter other groups on the water, and extra guides are provided for safety when necessary.
