Overview

This three-hour small-group bike tour in Pula begins across from the main entrance of the Amphitheatre de Pula. Riders start by cycling to the Twin Gates of Pula, also known as Porta Gemina, built between the 2nd and 3rd centuries on the remains of an earlier gate. The route continues past the Gate of Hercules and through the Arch of the Sergii, called the Golden Gate, an important Roman structure. Participants then pass the Church of Our Lady of the Sea and a memorial site for those lost on the Baron Gautsch steamship during World War I and II. The tour includes a ten-minute ride along a four-kilometer promenade lined with pine forest, connecting three beaches: Valkane, Gortan Cove, and Mornar. Next is a ten-minute stop at a canyon ridge with high cliffs offering sea views. Those who wish can try cliff jumping from these cliffs. The ride continues along the seafront, providing views of Pula’s old town, port, and the historic Uljanik shipyard. The group stops for five minutes at Pula’s main square and another five minutes at the Roman temple dedicated to Roma and Emperor Augustus, built between 2 BC and 14 AD. The tour includes a quality mountain bike, helmet, bottled water, and photos and videos from the ride. Swimming and cliff diving in the clear sea are part of the experience. Transfers, lunch, and snorkeling equipment are not included.
