by Way to Know Rio
This private custom tour in Rio de Janeiro lasts eight to nine hours and includes hotel pickup in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle. A driver-guide accompanies groups of one to three travelers, providing commentary and assistance throughout the day. The tour begins with a 30-minute visit to Parque Lage, where visitors explore the palace and learn about its history. Next, there is a 15-minute stop at Mirante do Leblon for views over the city. The route passes through Aterro do Flamengo, the largest urban park in the world. After these fixed stops, travelers choose one of three focus options for the second day of the tour. The nature option includes a 30-minute visit to Vista Chinesa pagoda and a one-hour stop at Cascatinha Taunay waterfall. The history option features 30-minute visits to the Royal Portuguese Library and the Saint Benedict Monastery. The art option includes a 30-minute stop at the Ethnicity Wall, a large graphite mural recognized by Guinness World Records, and a 60-minute visit to The Maze, a mosaic artwork. Alternatively, guests may request a visit to the Santa Teresa neighborhood instead of the focus stops. Entrance fees and lunch are not included. The tour involves some walking and lasts about eight hours plus time for lunch. Wheelchair-accessible vans are available with advance notice. Communication via WhatsApp is provided. Note that The Maze is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Colombo closes on Sundays. During busy periods such as New Year’s and Carnival, the number of sites visited may be reduced.
