Overview

Rome’s Colosseum is a vast ancient amphitheater where gladiators once fought. This 3-hour guided tour offers special access to the Colosseum arena floor through the Gladiator’s Gate, the entrance used by gladiators themselves. Visitors enter without waiting in line at the Colosseum, Roman Forum, or Palatine Hill. The tour begins at the Colosseum with an 80-minute visit covering the lower and upper levels. Guests learn about the Colosseum’s construction, gladiatorial games, and can walk on the arena floor where the fights took place. The guide points out views of the underground areas and the Piazza del Colosseum. There is also time to take photos from the center of the arena and the Colosseum terrace. Next, the group moves to the Roman Forum for about 30 minutes to explore ancient temples including the Temple of Julius Caesar and the political and social heart of ancient Rome. Finally, the tour continues for 30 minutes on Palatine Hill, where Roman emperors once lived, completing the visit to three iconic sites. The tour includes entrance tickets with arena access, the Colosseum reservation fee, and a required passport copy for entry. Food, drinks, hotel transfers, and access to the Colosseum underground levels are not included. The itinerary order may vary, and security checks may affect entry times.
