Galleria Borghese

Visit the Borghese Gallery, one of the world’s notable art museums featuring works by Bernini, Caravaggio, Canova, and Raphael. The collection mainly comes from Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1579-1633). Important paintings include Caravaggio’s “Young Sick Bacchus” and “Boy with a Basket of Fruit.” Sculptures include Bernini’s “Apollo and Daphne,” “David,” “The Rape of Proserpina,” and Canova’s “Paolina Bonaparte.” Raphael’s “Entombment of Christ” is also displayed. The rooms of Casina Borghese contain frescoes and art techniques explained by the audioguide. After touring the gallery, guests can walk through the Villa Borghese gardens, a peaceful area away from the city noise.
