by Australian Pinnacle Tours
This four-hour tour on Rottnest Island is conducted by coach and historical train, covering key island highlights. It begins with a ride on a historic trolley train up to Oliver Hill Battery, where participants join a guided tour of the World War II guns and tunnels. This part includes a 45-minute walk through tunnels with uneven steps and no rest stops. After the tour, lunch is served before continuing by coach to Jeannies Lookout for ocean and reef views. The route proceeds along the island's loop, passing Wadjemup Lighthouse, which was built in 1896 and remains operational with a 26 nautical mile range. Participants also see the salt lakes, which cover about 10 percent of the island, including several permanent and seasonal lakes known for sometimes turning pink due to algae and salt interaction. The tour stops briefly at Cathedral Rocks to view the seal colony and the West End coastline. Live commentary is provided throughout the trip, and air conditioning is available on the vehicles. Drinks are not included. Transport to and from Rottnest Island by ferry must be arranged independently by each traveler.
