by Sail Liberty
This tour offers a two-and-a-half-hour afternoon or sunset sail on San Diego Bay aboard Liberty, a classic 1904 gaff-rigged Friendship sloop yacht known for its finely finished woodwork and bronze fittings. The yacht carries up to six passengers, providing a small-group setting. Captain Phil, who has over 50 years of sailing experience, navigates the bay while guests view several notable landmarks. The route passes the Maritime Museum of San Diego, where the Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship, is docked. The yacht sails under the bow of the USS Midway aircraft carrier, then continues past Seaport Village’s waterfront shopping and dining areas. The tour also includes views of Coronado Island, featuring its beach and the historic Hotel del Coronado, as well as the curved Coronado Bridge that spans the bay. Guests see the Rady Shell concert venue at Jacobs Park and the San Diego Convention Center with its sail-like roof. Unlimited refreshments are provided throughout the sail, including carbonated beverages, bottled water, snacks, craft beer, and white wine. Gratuities and parking fees are not included. Booking all six seats allows for a private tour on the Liberty yacht.
