Overview

Discover Hangeul through Korean traditional crafts and brush writing. In this small-group experience, you’ll learn about Korean traditions related to brush writing, the history and uniqueness of Hangeul, and the stories behind traditional Korean brushes and hanji. Then, try a traditional brush made by a Korean brush-making artisan and practice writing basic Hangeul letters and your own name. Finally, write your Hangeul name on a traditional-style scroll to take home as a personal keepsake from Korea. The host has visited and interviewed traditional Korean artisans across different crafts. Through stories gathered from these encounters, you’ll discover the people and craftsmanship behind Korean traditions while sharing your own cultural perspectives along the way.
