Overview

This full-day coach tour presents a broad view of Shanghai’s key landmarks and cultural sites, tracing the city’s development from ancient times to the modern era. The tour begins with a visit to the Shanghai History Museum, where visitors can see over 120,000 artifacts illustrating 5,000 years of Chinese history. The museum's design follows Feng Shui principles and the visit lasts about 90 minutes. Next, the group stops at People’s Square, a large green space surrounded by notable buildings, where there is an opportunity to feed doves. The tour continues to the Jade Buddha Temple, built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875-1909). The temple displays jade statues imported from Burma and features Song Dynasty architectural style. It also houses the Shanghai Buddhist Institute. After this, the coach brings visitors to the Bund, a 4-kilometer waterfront area famous for its role as Shanghai’s financial and commercial center in the 1930s. The stop here is about half an hour. Following the Bund, the itinerary leads to Yuyuan Garden, a classical garden featuring halls, springs, and structures dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The visit here lasts about one hour. Adjacent to the garden is Yuyuan Old Street, a large bazaar with Ming Dynasty style buildings, where visitors spend around 30 minutes. The tour then explores the Former French Concession, known for its tree-lined streets and current entertainment venues. The final stop is Xintiandi, a trendy district within the old French Concession featuring preserved brick buildings converted into clubs, restaurants, and shops, with a 30-minute visit. Lunch is included during the day. The coach is air-conditioned and there is hotel pickup and drop-off within Shanghai’s city center. Admission fees to all listed attractions are covered. On Mondays, when the Shanghai History Museum is closed, the M50 Art Zone replaces it, and when Yuyuan Garden is closed, the tour visits Yuyuan Bazaar and City God Temple instead. The tour requires a minimum of three participants.
