Overview

The tour begins with a hotel pickup in central Shanghai and a one-hour drive by air-conditioned minivan to Zhujiajiao Water Town. Upon arrival, visitors walk through the village’s narrow alleys and along canals, crossing several bridges. A traditional boat ride on the small canals is included, providing views of historic houses and waterways. There is time to try local snacks at personal expense. After about three hours in Zhujiajiao, the group returns to downtown Shanghai to visit Yu Garden, a private garden dating from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The garden features ancient towers, halls, rockeries, lakes, and trees and is visited for about an hour and a half. Next, the tour includes a 40-minute stop at Yuyuan Bazaar (Yuyuan Old Street), located next to Yu Garden. This market area features souvenir shops and snack vendors housed in traditional-style buildings along ancient streets. The final stop is the Bund, a 1500-meter waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River. Visitors spend about 50 minutes here, with the guide pointing out colonial buildings on the west side and modern skyscrapers on the east side, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, and Jin Mao Tower. After the Bund visit, the group returns to their hotels. Guests may choose to remain at the Bund for a longer walk and receive directions to nearby Nanjing Road for shopping and dining. The full-day tour lasts approximately 10 hours and includes hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional English-speaking guide, free umbrellas, bottled water with unlimited supply, a boat ticket in Zhujiajiao, and transportation by air-conditioned minivan with chauffeur. Meals and gratuities are not included.
