Overview

This Silfra diving tour begins with a meeting on location in Reykjavik, Iceland. Participants travel to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the Silfra fissure is located. The tour lasts about three hours and includes diving between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates in the Silfra crack. Divers wear dry suits with warm undersuits to stay dry and warm in the cold glacial water, which has over 100 meters of visibility due to natural filtration through lava rock. The dive covers four main underwater sections: the Big Crack, Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon. At one point, divers can touch both tectonic plates. The tour includes all necessary diving equipment, a heated changing van, hot chocolate with cookies, guidance from a live PADI instructor, and the Silfra entrance fee. Participants must provide height, weight, and age before the tour for proper dry suit fitting. Requirements include being at least 17 years old (with guardian consent if under 18), certified as a diver with dry suit experience, able to swim, physically fit, and able to communicate in English. Medical clearance is required for participants aged 60 and older. The dive is not suitable for pregnant women. It is recommended to wear thermal underwear and thick wool socks under the dry suit and to bring a change of clothes. Souvenir photos are available for purchase but are not included, and tips are not included.
