Overview

This cycling tour in Phnom Penh lasts about 4 to 6 hours and covers 25 to 30 kilometers on mostly flat terrain around Mekong Island. It is designed for people comfortable cycling moderate distances. The trip begins with a hotel pickup and transfer by tuk-tuk or minivan to the Cambodia Post Office, a French colonial building from 1895 located in the former European district. From there, participants take a ferry across the Mekong River to Koh Dach Island. After a short briefing, the group cycles through villages, farms, and orchards growing mango, lemongrass, cucumber, and other crops. The ride includes visits to a silk weaving workshop where traditional textile production is demonstrated. The tour also includes a visit to learn about Theravada Buddhism and other local religions, followed by a stop at a bean curd drying business. Lunch is served at a floating restaurant on the island. After eating, the group cycles back to the ferry, returns to Phnom Penh, and is transferred by vehicle to their hotel. The tour includes a Cannondale mountain bike, helmet, English-speaking guide, ferry fees, and lunch.
