Overview

This 10-hour small-group tour starts early with a guided visit inside Pena Palace in Sintra, arriving before the usual crowds to avoid long queues. The guided tour inside the palace lasts about two hours and covers its architecture, interiors, and history. After Pena Palace, there is a 15-minute stop outside to view the National Palace of Sintra, the townscape, and the Castle of the Moors. The next stop is Quinta da Regaleira, a mansion known for its garden featuring caves, wells, labyrinths, and Masonic symbols. Visitors explore the grounds on foot for about 75 minutes; the guide provides explanations before entry but does not accompany the group inside due to access restrictions and parking limitations. Following this, the group stops for a 90-minute lunch at a local restaurant (not included). After lunch, the tour visits a viewpoint overlooking the cliffside village of Azenhas do Mar for 30 minutes. The route continues along the Portuguese coast, passing several beaches including Praia do Guincho and Praia de Carcavelos. The westernmost point of continental Europe, Cabo da Roca, is visited next with a 45-minute stop to see the cliffs and coastal views. The tour then stops at Boca do Inferno for 30 minutes to observe the waves crashing through the rock formation. The journey continues through Cascais, where visitors see the bay, Fortaleza, and the Castro Guimães Museum while passing through the town. The coastal drive finishes by passing through Estoril, known for its casino, mansions, and beaches, before returning toward Lisbon. Transport is provided in two air-conditioned Mercedes vehicles, and a guided commentary is offered throughout the day. Included are bottled water, a typical Portuguese pastry, personal photos taken during the tour, and a short video summarizing the highlights. Tickets for Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira are purchased by the operator but are not included in the tour price. Lunch is also not included.
