by Skydive Wanaka
This 3-hour tandem skydive begins at Wanaka Airport, about 10 minutes from central Wanaka. After arrival, guests receive all necessary safety equipment and a briefing from an experienced jump master. Participants meet their tandem instructor before boarding a plane for a 20-minute flight to altitude. During the ascent, the instructor points out key landmarks including Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring, the Southern Alps, up to six lakes, and the Clutha River. The jump starts when the plane door opens at altitude, and skydivers experience freefall for up to 60 seconds, reaching speeds near 125 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour). After the parachute deploys, the descent continues with a slower glide back to the drop zone. Optional transfers from Wanaka i-Site are included. After landing, guests can celebrate while waiting for their edited photos and videos (available for purchase separately).
