The Skywire Adventure at Cable Bay in Nelson begins at the base area, where participants board a mini-bus for a ride through native forest to the Skywire launch platform. During the journey, guides provide information about the forest, points of interest, and the surrounding area. The Skywire ride carries up to four people at once and reaches speeds of up to 100 km/h. Riders travel forward and backward, covering 800 metres of gravity-assisted freewheeling in each direction, combined with 700 metres of a scenic glide each way. The total ride time is nearly 12 minutes, with the entire experience lasting about 75 minutes, returning participants to the starting point. Included are free unlimited parking during opening hours and air conditioning in the vehicle. Food, drinks, and lunch are not provided. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Spectators may travel to the launch platform for an additional cost.

On arrival to Cable Bay Adventure Park please check in at our booking office with one of our staff members at least 10minutes prior to your departure time. If you're early, that's okay - you can grab a coffee or a famous cheese scone to eat at our onsite, licensed, Base Cafe. We're open daily from 9am with our first departure for the day leaving at 10am and our last trip for the day departing at 3:00pm. Please allow 1-1.5 hours return trip from our Base area for your experience. Participants must be 1.2 metres tall, child rates apply for children aged 15years and under, we also offer family rates for 2 Adults & 2 Children - Call us direct The Skywire launch platform is 300metres above Sea level. As part of your experience, you will take in a 4km, commentated, mini-bus journey through the native forest to the launch platform. The Skywire ride takes up to 4 people at a time, seated side by side, strapped into individual racing car style seats with 5 point harnesses and takes approximately 12 minutes to complete the return journey! The Skywire is weather dependent - we can't operate in heavy rain or high winds. Bookings are highly recommended especially in the busy summer season.
