Overview

This small-group wine tour lasts about 10 and a half hours and focuses on Barolo wines in the Langhe hills near Milan. The tour travels by private, air-conditioned minibus, offering a relaxed pace without large crowds or rushed stops. It includes visits to family-run wineries where guests enter cool, traditional cellars and taste seven DOC and DOCG red wines, including Barolo, guided by the winemakers themselves. The day begins with a two-hour walking tour and free time in Alba, where visitors see medieval towers, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, and can shop for local products or eat lunch independently. Then the tour continues to Barolo, where a family winery provides a detailed explanation of Barolo production, vineyard locations, and tasting of multiple wines. The tour also includes a visit to Castello di Grinzane Cavour, a medieval UNESCO-listed castle with panoramic views and the oldest wine shop in Piedmont. When the castle is closed on Tuesdays, the group stops at a panoramic viewpoint in La Morra instead. The guide speaks English and explains local wine traditions throughout the day. Travel time between stops is included in the total duration.
