The guides are marine biologists who share information about the animals and explain how they conduct scientific research during the trip. Lifejackets are provided for safety throughout the tour. Participants will spend time on the water watching wildlife while learning about the species and ongoing studies.
Atlantic Wildlife Observation
Marine Biologists on board search the Atlantic for marine wildlife and provide information about dolphins in their natural environment. The cruise departs from Faro, passing through the Ria Formosa Natural Park towards the Atlantic Ocean. Guides watch for various wildlife, especially cetaceans such as Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) and Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis), with occasional sightings of Orcas or whales. The trip also includes opportunities to see marine birds like Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus), Shearwaters, and Storm Petrels. Other animals commonly observed include Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola), Atlantic Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus thynnus), sharks, and marine turtles. After locating cetaceans, Marine Biologists share information and collect research data before returning to Faro.
