Overview

Iceland's south coast features striking natural landmarks, including glaciers, waterfalls, and volcanic beaches. This full-day bus and hiking tour from Reykjavik lasts about 11 hours and covers multiple iconic sites along the coast. The journey begins with a visit to Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall where visitors can walk behind the falling water during most of the year. Next is Skogafoss, a large 65-meter-high and 25-meter-wide waterfall known for its impressive size and Viking legends. The tour continues to Reynisfjara, a black sand beach famous for its basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar rock formations rising from the Atlantic Ocean. Here, guests have about an hour to walk along the beach and observe the powerful waves. The main activity is a glacier hike at Sólheimajökull, an outlet of Iceland’s 4th largest glacier, located about 158 kilometers from Reykjavik. Participants receive all necessary glacier hiking gear, including harnesses, crampons, ice picks, and helmets. After gearing up, the group hikes on the ice for roughly three hours, exploring glacial features and learning about the glacier’s formation. The tour vehicle offers onboard WiFi and air conditioning for comfort during transfers. Dinner is not included. The minimum age for this tour is 10 years.
