Overview

This 3-hour winter kayaking tour takes place around Vaxholm, about 30 minutes from Stockholm. Participants use fully equipped sea kayaks that include paddle, spray skirt, and life vest. Dry suits, boots, gloves, and rain hats are provided to keep warm and dry. The route passes several local sights such as Vaxholm Fortress, a 16th-century citadel built by King Gustav Vasa; the Bogesundslandet nature reserve, known for its wildlife, farms, and marked trails; traditional fishing cottages at Norrhammen with a museum and summer café; and Resarö Island, home to the Ytterby Mine, famous for having four elements named after it. During the tour, tea, coffee, and snacks are served as part of a Swedish fika break. A waterproof bag is included to keep belongings dry. After kayaking, participants can enjoy a hot sauna to warm up. The tour runs in winter when the archipelago is quiet and the landscape shows pale winter tones. Guests should wear warm underwear, wool socks, and additional warm clothing under the dry suit. Bringing a change of clothes is recommended in case of getting wet or sweaty. The tour requires good physical condition and the ability to swim. Hotel pickup is not included.
