by Snowdog - The Arctic Adventure
The Sunrise Zen Husky Tour in Kiruna, Sweden, runs daily from 10:00 to 13:00 and lasts three hours. The tour begins with a meeting at the Snowdog kennel, where participants are introduced to a team of friendly huskies, including several puppies. The guide provides information about Lapland, the practice of dog sledding, and the resident dogs. Participants remain seated on the sled throughout the ride, which is pulled by the huskies. Warm winter clothing such as overalls, boots, and gloves is provided if needed, as temperatures can drop below minus 30 degrees Celsius. Snacks, tea, and coffee are included during the tour. Children under six years old are not permitted due to the cold conditions.
Sled-Dog-Kennel
Located about 17km from Kiruna's main tourist area, the kennel is secluded from other companies. Guests are picked up free of charge and provided with warm clothing before entering the dark Poikkijärvi Woods. The sled seats four people, with one of the experienced guides driving while guests sit and enjoy the ride through the wilderness. The team consists of 12 to 14 Alaskan Huskies, which guests may feed a piece of meat after the tour if they wish. Participants can assist in preparing and securing the dogs. The visit ends at a fire hut where a warm drink and snack are served over an open wood fire.
