Cairo sits on the banks of the Nile River, Egypt's longest river and a central part of the city's layout and life. This open air boat cruise runs for about two hours along the Nile at sunset and into the night, offering views of Cairo and Giza from the water. The boat is motorized and able to pass beneath the bridges along the route. On the cruise, guests can see landmarks such as the Cairo Tower, the Qasr el Nil Bridge with its bronze lions, the 6th October Bridge, and the island district of Zamalek. The cruise also passes by the Cairo Opera House and the Al Ahly club area. The boat ride includes tea, coffee, and cold soft drinks. Visitors may arrange transport to and from the meeting point by public transit or request a private car for an additional fee. Cairo Tower
This concrete tower in Cairo stands 187 meters (614 feet) tall and was the tallest structure in Egypt for 37 years until 1998. It was the tallest structure in North Africa for 21 years until 1982, and held the title of Africa's tallest building for one year until 1962.
Qasr el Nil Bridge
A historic swing bridge completed in 1931, it replaced Cairo’s first Nile bridge. It connects Tahrir Square in Downtown Cairo to Gezira/Zamalek Island and features four bronze lion statues created by French sculptor Henri Alfred Jacquemart.
6th October Bridge
This 20.5-kilometer elevated highway crosses the Nile twice, connecting west bank suburbs through Gezira Island to central Cairo and onward to highways leading to Cairo International Airport. Named after the start date of the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
Zamalek Island
Zamalek is an affluent man-made island part of Cairo’s west bank, with the northern third developed into a residential area that had 14,946 residents in 2017. The southern two-thirds consist mainly of sports grounds and public gardens. The island is connected to the riverbanks by four bridges: Qasr El Nil, Galaa, 15 May, and 6th October Bridge.
Cairo Opera House
Opened on 10 October 1988, this cultural center was funded by Japan and inaugurated by President Hosni Mubarak and Prince Tomohito of Mikasa. It was the first venue in Africa or the Arab world to stage a Kabuki show.
Al Ahly Club Area
The idea of establishing Al Ahly came in the first 10 years of the 20th century and was first raised by Omar Lotfy, a student in the Egyptian Law School during his presidency of the High School Students Club, which was established in 1905. The club was created for political reasons and to provide high school students with a sports club for leisure and exercise.
Nile Boat Ride
The cruise offers a view of Cairo’s illuminated skyline at night from the river, a classic experience of the city’s connection to the Nile.
