This 90-minute surfing lesson takes place on Waikiki Beach in Oahu, known for its gentle, long rolling waves throughout the year. A professional instructor guides participants through the basics of surfing, including how to paddle, balance, and catch waves safely. All necessary equipment, such as a surfboard and leash, is provided along with access to a locker for storing personal items. While gratuities and photography require advance arrangements, a rash guard and optional lock are available to rent for a small fee. Swimmers only can join this lesson, which focuses on learning to surf in a supportive setting on one of Hawaii’s most popular beaches.

What Will Happen During My Lesson? You can expect that your first lesson will start on the beach with your instructor. You will spend about 20 minutes learning proper water safety and etiquette, paddling technique, turning the surfboard, maneuvering over waves and positioning to stand up and ride your first wave. The rest of the time, about an hour to an hour and a half, is spent in the water learning to stand up and ride waves. Once you stand up on your board for your first time, you will understand why surfers are so stoked all the time.
