Overview

This evening kayak trip starts with a short drive through the countryside to Lake McLaren near Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. Upon arrival, guests receive a tasting session called “Te Reka O Te Whenua - the Taste of the Land,” featuring New Zealand cheeses, RewaRewa honey, artisanal foods, and locally brewed kombucha. During cooler months, warm spiced non-alcoholic mulled wine is served. The tour lasts about three hours and fifteen minutes and uses double kayaks on the calm waters of Lake McLaren. After light refreshments on the lake’s edge, participants paddle during sunset, observing birds settling down and trout feeding. As darkness falls, the sky shows stars and glow worms appear in the native bush on the surrounding cliffs. The tour is guided and includes all necessary kayak equipment and taxes.
