Overview

This hiking tour in Tijuca National Park lasts about five hours and covers several key natural attractions. It begins with a one-hour hike to Pedra Bonita, a peak with panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro, including Pedra da Gávea and Christ the Redeemer. If the weather is cloudy, an alternative scenic hike replaces Pedra Bonita. After reaching the peak, the tour continues with approximately two hours exploring the forest trails, waterfalls, and wildlife within Tijuca National Park. The group stops for fifteen minutes at Cascatinha Taunay, the park’s highest waterfall, which drops forty meters into a clear pool suitable for photos and swimming. Next, the hike proceeds for twenty to thirty minutes to a main cave about forty meters high inside the forest, passing two other caves along the way. Inside the cave, visitors can hear flowing water and echoes of footsteps. Following the cave visit, there is a fifteen-minute break at a waterfall where guests may bathe in cool water to relax. The final stop is a fifteen-minute visit to Vista Chinesa, a viewpoint offering views of Guanabara Bay, Corcovado, and Rio’s beaches, surrounded by forest. Note that Vista Chinesa is closed on weekends. The tour includes a professional guide, all fees and taxes, and air conditioning during transport. Food and drinks are not provided. Groups are limited to seven people per guide.
