Overview

Arrive in Utsunomiya, the capital of Tochigi Prefecture, and meet your guide to begin exploring its compact, walkable nightlife districts. The city is known for its casual izakaya culture, where each neighborhood has its own distinct atmosphere. You’ll move on foot through three different drinking areas, stopping at one bar in each district. At every venue, you order drinks and food directly and pay as you go. Your guide helps you with the menu, explains local specialties, and introduces what each spot is known for among locals. By the end of the evening, you’ll have visited three different sides of Utsunomiya’s bar scene—ranging from lively izakayas to smaller neighborhood spots—getting a realistic sense of how locals actually spend a night out in the city.
