Overview

Meet your guide near Tokyo Skytree in Sumida, a district known for its working-class history, riverside location along the Sumida River, and network of local izakayas, standing bars, and hidden drinking spots. Explore streets shaped by after-work drinking culture, where narrow alleys and small local bars create an authentic nightlife atmosphere distinct from central Tokyo. Visit three bar districts within walking distance, each showing a different side of Sumida’s drinking scene, from lively bars with regulars to quieter neighborhood spots. At each stop, order drinks and food at your own pace and experience how locals unwind after work. Move on foot with your guide between areas, then close out your tab independently at each bar, gaining a grounded understanding of Tokyo’s drinking culture
