This 90-minute sushi-making class in Tsukiji, Tokyo, offers a hands-on opportunity to learn from a professional sushi chef. The session begins with an introduction to sushi basics and insider techniques. Participants then prepare five types of nigiri sushi and one rolled sushi using fresh ingredients and proper utensils sourced from the local market. The class takes place indoors on the third floor of a traditional Japanese building, with only stairs access. After the preparation, participants eat the sushi they made during the class. The instructor speaks English and guides the group throughout the session. No hotel pickup or drop-off is provided.
Tsukiji Sushi Classroom
An English-speaking host and a professional sushi chef lead the session in a traditional Japanese-style room inside a local Tsukiji market building. Participants first observe a fish disassembly demonstration by the chef, learning the steps to prepare fish for sushi and details about Japanese knives. Then, the sushi master explains what sushi is and guides through making nigiri and rolled sushi, providing all necessary utensils and tableware from local suppliers. Guests eat the sushi they make while the chef prepares additional pieces with fresh wasabi. Vegetarians and gluten-free participants are accepted.
