The city is also presented through the perspective of 19th-century romantics. The route begins outside the Iglesia de Las Santas Justa y Rufina, where the guide discusses the Mozarabic community and the oldest charity brotherhood in Spain. Next, the group stops outside the Iglesia de San Ildefonso Jesuitas to learn about the city’s patron saint and a seventeenth-century theft of one of his relics. The tour continues to Plaza de San Roman, one of Toledo’s highest points, where participants see the front of the church of the Convent of San Pedro Mártir, Casa de Mesa, and the old Church of San Román, now the Visigoth Councils Museum.
