Overview

This shore excursion is designed for cruise passengers with limited time in Kusadasi. After disembarking, guests meet their guide at the Kusadasi Cruise Port and travel in a luxury Mercedes vehicle. The tour lasts about 4 to 6 hours. The first stop is the ancient city of Ephesus, where visitors walk along marble streets to see well-preserved Roman ruins. Highlights include the Library of Celsus facade, the Great Theater, Basilica of St. John, the Cave of the Seven Sleepers, several churches, a synagogue, the Prytaneion, and the Terrace Houses. The Terrace Houses have glass floors that reveal mosaics and frescoes from Roman times. Although the Temple of Artemis is mostly gone, one column stands to show its former scale. Next, the tour visits the Temple of Artemis remains and then Kusadasi Castle on Pigeon Island, a fortress dating from the 14th to 18th centuries with gardens and a small museum. The House of the Virgin Mary, a Christian pilgrimage site believed to be Mary's last home, is also included. The guide coordinates the return to the cruise port to ensure an on-time arrival back to the ship. Optional skip-the-line entrance tickets may be selected for convenience.
