by Torquay Watersports
The 90 Minute Coastal Explorer Boat Trip departs from Torquay Marina and follows the coastline either left or right depending on weather conditions. The boat stays close to the shore, passing coves, caves, and rock islands within the UNESCO Geopark area. The trip includes a five-minute stop near the South West Coast Path at Meadfoot and London Bridge to view the natural limestone arch. If weather permits, the boat pauses for about twenty minutes at Berry Head National Nature Reserve to look for dolphins and porpoise. The tour continues to Thatcher Rock, where it stops for five minutes to observe seabirds and seals on the rock island. Then the boat moves on to Babbacombe Bay, spending approximately thirty minutes cruising the bay by water before continuing further down the coast to search for seals and offshore dolphins. Lifejackets are supplied and must be worn for the entire trip. The guide provides local information about the geology and wildlife throughout the journey. Some faster segments with spins and donuts on the water are included. Wildlife sightings such as seals, dolphins, and porpoise are possible but not guaranteed. Passengers should bring warm or wet weather clothing. This trip is not recommended for people with conditions affecting bone strength.
