Overview

This 5-hour wine tour uses a bus with air conditioning to take you from downtown Traverse City to three selected wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula. The tour includes scheduled appointments arranged by the shuttle service at each winery, allowing you to visit their tasting rooms and sample wines. Drinking and snacking are permitted on the bus. The first stop is Black Star Farms, where you spend about 80 minutes exploring a 160-acre estate with vineyards, an outdoor terrace, a seasonal café, an inn, and recreational trails. You can taste from over 50 wines and European-style brandies that reflect the region’s climate and agriculture. Next, the tour continues for 80 minutes at Shady Lane Cellars, located on 70 acres of sustainably farmed grapes. Here you can learn about their environmentally focused winemaking approach while enjoying the winery’s surroundings and wine selections. The final stop is Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate, sitting at 1,165 feet elevation. You have 80 minutes to taste award-winning wines and take in wide views of Leelanau County, especially notable during fall. This family-owned vineyard represents five generations of winemaking on this land. You can purchase bottles at each winery, and the drivers will hold your purchases until the tour concludes. Note that gratuity is not included but is recommended at 20% cash for the driver. The tour is public and does not provide full meals, though you may bring your own lunch. Wineries often have outdoor seating, and tastings may be limited to flights or glasses due to recent changes. Reservations at wineries are appointments only and may not prevent wait times.
