by Arpon Trekking
This small-group trekking tour lasts about 8 hours and starts with a hotel pickup in Ushuaia. The guide checks all equipment and clothing before departing. The trailhead is approximately 15 minutes from the city center, near the beginning of a peat bog area with several wild trails of increasing difficulty. The hike begins through the Cerro Alarken Nature Reserve, where multiple short paths are available before entering the Valley of Andorra. The main trekking section covers about 3 hours through Fuegian forest, passing lenga and guindo trees. The trail crosses a river and gains 600 meters in elevation, reaching the tree line. The final part of the trail involves steep high-mountain terrain leading to Témpanos Lagoon. If weather conditions are favorable and the group is in good condition, the hike continues around the lagoon to approach Vinciguerra Glacier. At the glacier, hikers spend about 1 hour observing its cracks and moulins. The return follows the same path back to the waiting vehicle, which transports participants back to Ushuaia. The tour includes private transportation, trekking sticks and crampons if needed, snacks, lunch, and traveler insurance. Mountain clothing is required for safety; rental options are available for those without appropriate gear. Participants must bring their own trekking boots, waterproof clothing, bottled water, and backpack.
