by Tulsa Tours
This two-hour walking tour covers Tulsa’s Deco District, focusing on both Art Deco and pre-Deco architectural styles. The tour begins at the Philcade building, a notable Art Deco landmark in the district. Participants enter the Philcade lobby, which is normally closed to the public, and learn about its upcoming renovation. An expert guide leads the group through the district, explaining the development of Art Deco architecture and why Tulsa has an unusually large number of these buildings for a city of its size. The tour includes detailed stops at several important buildings: Atlas Life, Philtower, Tulsa Club, Southwestern Bell, ARCO, PSO, Pythian, Sinclair, and Philcade. This public group walking tour runs most Fridays and Saturdays from mid-March through December. Private tours, including a Deco Deluxe driving tour option, can be arranged on other days by request. Gratuity for the guide is optional and not included.
