Overview

The Vatican Museums in Rome hold one of the largest art collections in the world. This guided tour offers skip-the-line entry to the museums and the Sistine Chapel, lasting about two and a half hours. Guests enter Vatican City through a priority entrance, avoiding the usual lines. The tour starts in the Pinecone Courtyard, where visitors see the large bronze pinecone fountain and the modern Sphere within a Sphere sculpture by Arnaldo Pomodoro. The guide then leads the group through the Pio Clementino Museum wing, including the Octagonal Courtyard with statues like Laocoonte and Apollo Belvedere, and the Room of the Animals with lifelike sculptures. The Gallery of the Candelabra features painted vaults that create a three-dimensional effect. Next is the Gallery of Maps, showcasing hand-painted maps from nearly 500 years ago with detailed town locations. The guide continues to Raphael's Rooms, decorated by Raphael and reflecting influences from Michelangelo. The visit concludes with a silent walk through the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes are displayed. No talking is allowed inside the chapel. For those who select the option including St. Peter’s Basilica, skip-the-line access is provided via a special exit from the Sistine Chapel. After a guided portion, guests have free time to explore the basilica independently. The tour ends at the museum entrance, where guests can continue exploring on their own during official hours. A shorter express version lasting about 1.5 hours is available to focus on key highlights and the Sistine Chapel. The tour includes a professional guide and personal headsets if the guided option is chosen. St. Peter’s Basilica is only accessible if selected during booking, and conservation work on the Last Judgment fresco may obscure parts of it between January 12 and March 31, 2026.
