Overview

This 3.5-hour tour offers early morning entry to the Vatican Museums in Rome, allowing smaller groups of up to 6 people or private groups to avoid crowds. You start in the Vatican Museums, where your expert guide leads you through highlights such as the Gallery of the Candelabras, the Gallery of the Tapestries, the Gallery of the Maps, and the Raphael Rooms. Along the way, the guide shares historical details about the Popes and stories from Vatican life. Next, the tour continues to the Sistine Chapel. Before entering, the guide explains the artworks in detail since speaking inside is not allowed. You will then have time to quietly view the chapel and its famous ceiling. Note that from January 12 to March 31, scaffolding will cover Michelangelo’s Last Judgment due to restoration work, but the chapel remains open. The tour concludes with direct access to St. Peter’s Basilica without waiting in line. Inside, you will see Michelangelo’s Pieta, explore various chapels and altars, and walk under the dome designed by Michelangelo, the largest Catholic church dome in the world.
