Overview

This boat tour of about 5 to 6 hours covers three islands in the northern Venetian lagoon: Murano, Burano, and, if selected, Torcello. The tour starts at Piazza San Marco where participants board a panoramic boat with a multilingual guide on board. The first stop is Murano, known worldwide for its glassmaking tradition. Visitors enter a local glass furnace where a craftsman demonstrates glassblowing techniques live. After some free time to explore Murano and browse souvenirs, the boat sails to Burano. Here, guests have 90 minutes to visit the island famous for its brightly colored houses and lace-making traditions. Key sights include the main square and the Church of San Martino, which houses a notable painting by Tiepolo. Visitors can also enjoy local pastries called bussolai during this time. If this option is chosen, the tour continues to Torcello, a less populated island that contains some of the oldest churches in the lagoon and is known as the birthplace of the Venetian Republic. The return trip passes through the northern lagoon, offering views of Venice and the surrounding islands. The tour includes transportation on a covered panoramic boat, entrance to Murano’s glass furnace, a lace-making demonstration on Burano, and commentary from a qualified guide. Hotel pickup is not included.
