Overview

This 3-hour bus tour covers Wellington’s main landmarks and several photo stops, including the Wellington sign, South Coast, Mount Victoria Lookout, and the Cable Car lookout. The tour includes a 5-minute ride on the Wellington Cable Car, New Zealand's only remaining funicular railway, which takes passengers through tunnels up to the summit where views of the city can be seen and souvenirs are available at a mini-museum. The route passes key sites such as the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Oriental Bay beach, the Wahine Memorial Park on the South Coast with views of Wellington Harbour and Cook Strait, and Lyall Bay where the group drives under the airport runway and watches surfers. The tour also drives through Courtenay Place and Cuba Street, known for its unique Bucket Fountain sculpture, and passes the New Zealand Parliament's Beehive building and Old St. Paul's Cathedral. Pickup and drop-off at the cruise ship are included. Note the Cable Car will be closed for maintenance from 21 July to 10 August 2025.
