Overview

The West Highlands region of Scotland is known for its lochs, castles, and rugged landscapes. This full-day bus tour from Edinburgh lasts about 10 hours and travels through lochs, mountains, coastal villages, and historic castles. The tour begins with a stop in Luss Village, a small settlement on Loch Lomond’s shore where visitors have about 30 minutes to walk the village paths. Next is a brief 10-minute stop at Rest and be Thankful, a scenic spot once used by soldiers as a rest point. Afterward, the tour reaches Inveraray, a town on Loch Fyne, where guests have 90 minutes for lunch and free time. Visitors may explore the town, try local food, visit the Old Jail, or see Inveraray Castle from April to October (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Then the group travels north for a photo stop by Kilchurn Castle, a ruined castle on Loch Awe, viewed from a distance. The last stop is Doune Castle, one of Scotland’s best-preserved medieval castles. It is included with admission in the tour price and is known for appearances in Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Outlander, and The Outlaw King. The tour is shared with up to 16 passengers and includes transportation by a 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach and commentary from an English-speaking driver-guide.
