by White Wolf Sanctuary
The White Wolf Sanctuary in Oregon offers a two-hour visit focused on wolves and their preservation. The sanctuary is a nonprofit organization founded in 1999 dedicated to protecting wolves, supporting population recovery where suitable, and educating the public about wildlife and ecological roles. Visitors can see wolves in a natural setting and learn about conservation efforts. The tour includes bottled water and access to public restrooms. Weather conditions can vary, so guests should prepare for cool or wet weather and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. The access road is not suitable for low-profile vehicles like sports cars, and pets are not permitted on the sanctuary grounds.
White Wolf Sanctuary Visit
The tour starts at a two-mile dirt road off Alsea Highway near the Alsea River. Guests drive their own vehicles to the mountain top where the White Wolf Sanctuary is located. All meet on a large deck surrounded by forested wolf habitats and wild ravens for a 45-minute interactive presentation on wolves as apex predators. Afterward, a guided walk allows guests to see each wolf’s habitat and hear their stories. The sanctuary features spacious enclosed habitats where wolves can move freely. Facilities include a small gift shop and restrooms. Tours last two hours and run rain or shine.
