Overview

The Bloody Tour of York is a 90-minute guided walking tour through the medieval streets of York, England, led by either Mad Alice or Lady Peckett. The tour presents the city's dark and bloody history, including stories of ghosts, witches, murderers, kings, and queens. The tour begins at York Minster, one of Britain's largest Gothic cathedrals. From there, the route moves to Stonegate, a lively street with narrow alleys known as Snickleways. The walk continues to the Roman Column, which marks the city's Roman origins. Next is the Shambles, a medieval street that was once home to butchers and Saint Margaret Clitherow. The tour includes a stop at the Jorvik Viking Centre, which highlights the Viking arrival in AD 866. It concludes at Clifford's Tower, the remains of a castle built by William the Conqueror and the site of a historic tragedy. This multi award-winning tour has received the Arival Best Sightseeing Tour in Europe Award 2024. The entire tour is guided and suitable for all ages.
