Overview

The tour begins with a pick-up from your accommodation anywhere on Zakynthos island. The guide-driver provides a map of Zakynthos and explains the itinerary before heading to the first destination, Cameo Island. Here, you can walk across the famous wooden rope bridge onto the small island near Agios Sostis. There is a 5€ entrance fee for the island, where you can swim at the secluded beach surrounded by white limestone cliffs and take photos of the distinctive white sheets hanging above the water. After returning to the port, board a glass-bottom boat for a mini cruise within the National Marine Park of Zakynthos. While sailing, watch the bay for sea turtles surfacing or swimming beneath the boat through the glass floor. Next, reach Marathonisi Island, a green islet with two large caves. The boat passes into these caves where sunlight creates blue reflections on the walls. Then the boat stops for an hour at Marathonisi’s sandy beach, allowing time to swim, snorkel, or sunbathe. Protected sea turtle nests are marked and guests are asked to respect the conservation zones. Continuing along the southwestern coast, the boat sails to the Keri Caves. The captain maneuvers through rock arches including the Kamara Arch. You can swim for about 20 minutes just outside a large cave entrance; snorkeling gear is recommended to view underwater life. If you prefer, you may stay on the boat and enjoy the coastal scenery. After returning to the port, a transfer takes you to the Aristeon Ecological Olive Oil Press. Here, olive oil experts guide you through an outdoor museum displaying historical and modern olive oil production methods. The visit includes free tastings of local olives, village bread, and extra virgin olive oils flavored with lemon, orange, and garlic. The entire tour lasts around five hours and includes bottled water and full insurance. The boat ticket to Marathonisi Island and the olive oil tasting at Aristeon are included. Towels, sunscreen, snorkeling equipment, food and drinks are not included. If your hotel is more than 10-20 km from the office at Lomvardou 20, an extra 25€ fee applies. There are no toilets on the boat or Marathonisi Island, but a stop is made before boarding. Floating canteens on Marathonisi offer snacks, or you may bring your own. Wearing swimwear under your clothes is recommended since multiple water stops are involved. The tour is conducted in English, with other languages available upon request for written materials.
