But just about 56 km away from Guwahati lies a smaller hidden gem - Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is perfect for those who cannot spare many days but still want to enjoy a safari in the wilderness.

There are separate entrance fees and safari fees at Pobitora, and the rates differ for Indians and foreigners. The entrance fee is 50 rupees per person for Indians and 500 rupees per person for foreigners. The rate for jeep safaris is 1,300 rupees for up to six people, including the cost of toll, guide and security.

1. Kaziranga National Park. Kaziranga National Park is primarily located in Assam's Golaghat district, with parts extending into Nagaon. Famous as the home of the one-horned rhinoceros, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site with one of the highest tiger densities in the world.

The Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary reaches its peak beauty during the summer months, with the forest's vibrant characteristics appearing particularly light and bright. During this time, from March to May, one-horned rhinos and other wildlife are more easily observed as they frequently gather near lakes and rivers.
