First-Day Trek to Puccacocha Pass

The trek covers 14km (8.7 miles) with elevations between 4200m and 5000m, taking about 5-6 hours. On the first day, participants are picked up at 4:00am from their hotel and driven for 3 hours to the trailhead. While preparing gear, a hot breakfast is served. Guides review the day's plan and safety instructions before starting the hike in a large green valley. Along the way, hikers encounter numerous alpacas, local farmers, and views of Ausangate mountain. The first pass, Puccacocha pass, is reached at approximately 16,000 feet, just above Puccacocha lake, with an active glacier visible nearby. Lunch is taken around noon before continuing to Anata, the overnight stop, where dinner is served in a dining tent and the night sky can be observed while keeping warm with tea.

Second-Day Hike to Rainbow Mountain

This day covers a hike of 18km (11 miles) with elevations ranging from 5000m to 5200m and down to 4200m, lasting 6-7 hours. Wake-up time depends on weather, usually between 4am and 5am, when tea is brought to the tent followed by a substantial breakfast. The final ascent reaches Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain), where visitors may spend as much time as they wish enjoying the 360-degree views and exploring the mountain. The descent takes about three hours, after which lunch is served before a 3-hour drive back to Cusco. Return to Cusco is generally between 5pm and 6pm, with drop-off at the hotel. Note that this itinerary can change due to weather, strikes, roadblocks, or other uncontrollable factors. Pick-up is between 4am and 4:30am, and guests should be ready in their hotel lobby.
