The group meets at Piazza della Vittoria in front of the statue to begin the tour. The first stop is on an ancient street where participants taste the first dish while learning about local history including Torquato Tasso. Next, the tour visits Villa Comunale di Sorrento, a small park with gardens and views of the Gulf of Naples, the islands of Ischia and Procida, and Mount Vesuvius. The walk continues to a street near the Basilica of Sant'Antonino, where the remains of Sorrento’s patron saint are kept. Here, the guide provides information about local culture. The tour proceeds to Piazza Tasso, the main square in Sorrento, followed by a visit to Il Vallone dei Mulini, a valley formed by volcanic activity, where another tasting takes place. Participants then walk along Corso Italia, the main street of the historic center, stopping again to sample food. The final stop is Piazza Angelina Lauro, near the central station, where the group tastes the Secret Dish. Throughout the tour, participants sample more than six local favorite dishes including potato gateau, gnocchi alla Sorrentina, the Sorrento-invented cannelloni, freshly made fiordilatte and provola cheese with sun-ripened tomatoes, eggplant Parmigiana, soft lemon Amaretti cookies, and a glass of local red wine or limoncello. The tour is led by a licensed guide and involves walking between stops over approximately three hours. Comfortable shoes are recommended. The itinerary and menu may change depending on availability and weather. Dietary requirements should be communicated in advance.
