Arrival-Arusha

A Lion King representative will meet the guest at the airport and transfer them to their accommodation in Arusha for an overnight stay. The guest will have time to rest and prepare for the upcoming activities. Accommodation is at Ilboru Safari Lodge, a quiet and pleasant location.

Tarangire-National-Park

Following breakfast, the Lion King safari guide will pick up the guest from their accommodation. The journey to Tarangire National Park takes roughly two and a half hours along well-maintained paved roads. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River, which serves as the sole water source for animals during the dry season. Elephant herds are frequently observed near the river, alongside giraffes, bushbuck, and hartebeest. Predators like lions and leopards often trail these herbivores. Tarangire hosts more breeding bird species than any other location worldwide, and ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, are present. Lunch is provided at a picnic area within the park. After the game drive, the guest will continue to accommodation in Karatu.

Ngorongoro-Serengeti-Transit

Following breakfast, the guest will drive into the cooler areas of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with an opportunity to view the Ngorongoro Crater. The journey continues through the conservation area to the southern entrance of the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti features extensive open grasslands supporting abundant wildlife including impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. There is also a chance to see predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. After the game drive, the guest will travel to their accommodation for dinner.

Northern-Serengeti-Wildlife

After breakfast, the guest will travel north through the Serengeti, stopping to observe wildlife along the way. The Serengeti is home to a large variety of animals and is known for the annual great migration. During the migration, large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope move in a yearly pattern seeking fresh grazing. The migration can be found at any month depending on location; at this time of year, it is usually in the Northern Serengeti.

Mara-River-Crossing

The Serengeti landscape here includes hills, riverine forests, plains, and rocky outcrops. The Mara River flows through this region and is the site where the migration’s river crossing takes place. During this event, millions of wildebeest numbering over two million, along with hundreds of thousands of zebra and antelope, try to cross the river seeking fresh grazing and water. Nile crocodiles add danger to the crossing. On the opposite bank, predators such as lions, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs wait for prey.

Return-Central-Serengeti

After breakfast, the guest will return slowly to Central Serengeti with a game drive en route. There is an option to continue searching for migrating animals before departure. Wildlife and exploration opportunities vary daily in the Serengeti.

Ngorongoro-Crater-Visit

This morning, the guest will travel back through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, observing wildlife such as giraffes on the slopes. Arrival at Ngorongoro Crater is expected by lunchtime. The crater is a volcanic caldera formed two to three million years ago, containing savannahs, acacia woodlands, lakes, and swamps. The drive down into the crater is notable, and the crater floor hosts large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 bird species. It offers the best chance to see the endangered black rhino in open grasslands. After an afternoon game drive, the guest will proceed to accommodation in Karatu.

Lake-Manyara-National-Park

This morning, the guest will travel to Lake Manyara National Park, the last destination of the safari. Situated 120km west of Arusha, the park is among Africa’s narrowest. The Great Rift Escarpment forms the park’s western boundary. Lake Manyara is a shallow salt lake that fluctuates in size with the seasons and supports thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and more than 500 other species. The park’s dense evergreen forest is inhabited by baboons, elephants, and the well-known tree-climbing lions. Lunch will be a picnic inside the park. After the game drive, the guest will be dropped off at a selected location such as Arusha town, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport.
