This 4 to 5-hour guided tour begins by traveling north from Moab in a Toyota Land Cruiser to avoid the main crowds at Arches National Park. The first stop is at Utahraptor State Park to view dinosaur footprints left millions of years ago. After entering Arches National Park, the route passes Balanced Rock, a sandstone formation standing 128 feet tall. The tour then follows a 4-wheel drive trail into the park's backcountry, climbing a steep rock wall and passing sandstone fins, pinnacles, and spires called the Marching Men. Stops include Tower Arch, where an optional hike leads along a rocky and steep but short path to a 92-foot span arch. Those not hiking can view Tower Arch from the trailhead. The tour continues to Eye of the Whale Arch in the Herdina Park area, offering another optional half-mile hike under the arch to a less-visited slick rock area. Throughout the ride, the guide provides commentary on the park’s geology, wildlife, and history. The backcountry portion ends near Courthouse Towers before returning to Moab. The tour includes pick-up from motels or campgrounds if needed, ice water and lemonade, and the expertise of a licensed local guide. Park entrance fees are not included and must be paid separately unless you have a valid parks pass. Guests should bring their own food and drinks if desired, as these are not provided.
