Overview

This award-winning small-group tour lasts about 11 hours and departs from central Sydney meeting points by comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. The group travels approximately two hours, crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, passing Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, and crossing the Hawkesbury River. Along the way, the guide provides information about regional landmarks and history. The tour passes through Cessnock, known as the gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region. Upon arrival in the Hunter Valley, Australia's oldest wine region, participants visit three to four boutique family-owned wineries in the Pokolbin area, including Saddlers Creek, Hanging Tree Wines, and Ernest Hill Wines. At these intimate cellar doors, guests taste up to 20 premium wines, including Hunter Valley Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and exclusive blends. Winemakers or hosts share insights about their craft and vineyard stories. The tour includes a guided tasting of local artisan cheeses, with explanations of their production and pairing techniques. Lunch is served lakeside in Pokolbin, offering a choice of hot and cold dishes accompanied by a glass of wine. After lunch, the return trip to Sydney includes a drive-by the Hunter Valley Gardens, featuring themed displays and over 5,000 rose bushes. The route crosses the Hawkesbury River and Mooney Mooney Bridge before arriving back at the original Sydney pickup points in the early evening. Kangaroo sightings may occur at the vineyards but are not guaranteed. The tour is limited to a maximum of 14 participants and is for adults aged 18 and over. Gratuities are not included.
