Overview

The tour starts with a pickup from a hotel in Bangkok at 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. A private air-conditioned vehicle transfers travelers to Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991, located about 80 kilometers from Bangkok. The excursion begins with a visit to Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, a Buddhist temple known for its large chedi still used for religious services. The next stop is Wat Mahathat, a 14th-century temple famous for the Buddha head entwined in tree roots and once the center of all temples in the kingdom. After visiting Wat Mahathat, travelers have the option to have lunch at a local restaurant recommended by the guide; this meal is not included in the tour price. Following lunch, the tour continues with a private small boat ride lasting about one hour around Ayutthaya Historical Park. The boat passes several important temples, including Wat Chai Wattanaram, Wat Buddhai Sawan - the oldest temple in Ayutthaya - and Wat Phanun Choeng. Along the river, travelers can also see traditional Thai houses and farms. After the boat tour, the group visits Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the royal chapel used by Ayutthaya’s kings from 1350 to 1767, which served as a model for Bangkok’s Grand Palace. Then the tour proceeds to Wiharn Phra Mongkolbophit, where a large golden Buddha image is housed in a restored hall within the historical park. The final stop is a local market near Wiharn Phra Mongkolbophit, offering local snacks, desserts, drinks, and souvenirs for shopping. After about seven to eight hours in total, travelers return to Bangkok by private vehicle, with a drive time of approximately one and a half to two hours. An English-speaking guide accompanies the group throughout the tour. Accident insurance is included for all travelers, with full names required at booking. Optional meals and activities are not included. Travelers should prepare for outdoor walking with appropriate clothing, hats, sunglasses, and sun protection.
